Art by Stamos at Sister Kenny

Since 2003, I have been proud to display my artwork at the Sister Kenny Art Show For Artists With Disabilities. I am always amazed at the talent that these artists have. I often wonder what part their disability plays in developing their mastery of art. The pictures are as follows: Top left: me with my friends Val and Margie. Val was instrumental in convincing me to paint. Next is me by the painting "Nite Life by The "Harbor" To the right of that is me with my wife then finally another one of me by the other painting in the show.

It's Finally Spring! Think About Art by Stamos For Mom

What a beautiful day this was in Minnesota! As you may know, I'm in a wheelchair, so from October to when the snow is finally gone, I can not go for a "walk" outside. Today, April 5, I took my first daily "walk" for the year. "Walking" is such a great way to meet neighbors. I can't wait until warm weather is a constant; flowers bloom; and I wake up to the sound of birds chirping.

Spring-time brings with it several opportunities to visit www.artbystamos.com and look at all the gifts that would be available for Mother's Day, Father's Day and for a wedding gift for two people starting their life together. Oh yeah, Note Cards are a great gift for Graduations. They make great thank-you cards and what a stealthful way to hint to the grad that the art of writing notes should never be lost just because phone calls are easy to make.

Thanks for reading!

Art by Stamos As Gifts

Recently, my daughter became engaged to a wonderful young man and I'm thrilled. That's right, I'm "The Father of the Bride." In other words, from now until the wedding, I'm irrelevant. On Friday, my daughter and her fiance closed on their new home. These two events got me to thinking that art would make a wonderful gift for either event. Paintings or prints for the walls, note cards for thank yous, or any of dozens of gifts from my Cafe Press Store. Go to my web site, www.artbystamos.com and check it out!

Art by Stamos In Major Art Show

ART BY STAMOS WILL BE ENTERED IN THE SISTER KENNY INSTITUTE FOR ARTISTS WITH DISABILITIES. THE SISTER KENNY INSTITUTE WAS STARTED BY AN AUSTRALIAN NURSE TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO CURE POLIO. TODAY THE INSTITUTE IS PART OF ABBOTT NORTHWESTERN HOSPITAL AND WORKS TO CREATE A WAY TO MAKE DISABLED PEOPLE A PART OF THE COMMUNITY AND TO RISE ABOVE THEIR DISABILITIES. I CONSIDER IT AN HONOR TO TAKE PART IN AN ART SHOW OF SUCH MAGNITUDE. I AM HAPPY TO SAY THAT I WAS HONORED BY WINNING AN AWARD FOR MY PIECE NAMED "MYKONOS HARBOUR." THIS YEAR'S ENTRIES WILL BE THE LAST TWO PAINTINGS I FINISHED: "NIGHT LIFE AT CHIOS HARBOR" AND THE YET UNNAMED PAINTING. I GUESS IT NEEDS TO BE NAMED SOON. VISIT MY WEBSITE WWW.ARTBYSTAMOS.COM TO SEE THESE AND OTHER PAINTINGS. THANK YOU FRIENDS

Chios Harbor Nite Life

In my youth, this is where I met my friends for some ouzo and octopus, Greek coffee, or just an orange soda before taking in a movie. I remember that one evening I was to meet a girl named Mata Tsoutsas for a soda and a movie. Mata was notorious for being late and I am a stickler for being on time. We were to meet at 7:00 p.m. and I told her that at 7:01 I would leave. I'll just say that I waited a bit longer and I can't remember anything about the movie.

What's New?

Hello everyone,

Since my last posting, I have been a busy beaver. I began my first oil painting and while I'm waiting for it to dry, I began a new painting that I'm very excited about. It is a painting of Chios harbor at night. I remember how as a teen-ager I loved to watch the ferry come in and leave as I sat near the harbor with my friends, drinking ouzo and eating octopus. I sometimes wonder what happened to all of them and I wonder too if they think of me as often as I think of all of them. Many of my family members have died and I hope I get back soon to see the ones that are left. Collections are accepted to pay for my trip back. Please send the money directly to me. The larger the amount, the wider my grin.

Ceramics

Not many know this, but my artwork really began with me creating ceramics. Presently, as you can see in the picture, I am working on a ceramic plate. Also as you can see, I'm from Minnesota and I am a hockey fan. Thank you for checking in.

Who am I?

My story is a perfect example of how God works in peoples' lives. At the age of 37 I decided to go to Holy Cross Seminary, but one year later, my doctor informed me that I have multiple sclerosis. The disease progressed aggressively at first and within 2 years I was wheelchair-bound. Though my faith was tested, I knew that my life's course was in God's hands. In 2001, friends encouraged me to make a painting and I found a talent I never knew he had. In the end, I signed that first painting with with the name my parents called me when I was young, "Stamos." My ancestry is from Chios, Greece, and because my illness prevents me from easily traveling, I decided to mostly paint scenes from around my beloved Greek islands. Through the years, I have won awards and have been featured in "Inside MS" magazine. I have 2 daughters one son-in-law and a grandson (little Stamos). I was born in Minneapolis and continue to reside in a suburb of Minneapolis with my wife Vickie.

Please visit my website: www.artbystamos.com. In future blogs, I will tell you about my art, my eBay store and my store at Cafe Press.

What a way to say I LOVE YOU! I spent a sizable amount of my day creating Valentines Day items in my Cafe Press Store. The items are all white Teddy Bears with images of my paintings on their shirts. My Newest Painting

My newest painting and at 30 x 38 It's also the largest one I ever made. I have to admit, I am seldom happy with a painting at first finish it, but I was quite pleased with thin one.
